Learning Journey for Primary 1

Mar 31, 15 Learning Journey for Primary 1

It was 6th March and I was very eager to go to school as it was the day of our learning journey to the River Safari. When I reached school in the morning, I could see some of my classmates wearing their caps and many of us were carrying our small outing bags. Everyone looked excited.

First, we went to our classes. Our teachers went through some rules with us and we also signed a “Good Behaviour Pledge” that was found in our learning journey booklet. It serves as a reminder that we are ambassadors of the school and we will be at our best behaviour! After that, we proceeded to the school foyer to wait for the bus.

During the bus ride, we chatted happily with our friends and before we knew it, we were already at the River Safari! After the teacher took the tickets, we went in immediately. First, our teacher took us to the area where we could see the different Rivers of the World. We learnt more about the eight great rivers and do you know what? The longest river on Earth is the Nile River and the largest river is the Amazon River. If you want to know more, you should visit River Safari.

After learning more about the rivers, we came to the Giant Panda Forest. I loved this area the most because I could see my favourite pandas. There were two pandas and they are Kai Kai and Jia Jia. They were very cute. How I wish I could cuddle them! Besides having a chance to look and admire these two pandas, we also saw the red pandas that were having their meals.  They seemed to be enjoying their food.

After this, we had a short break. My friends and I shared some of the food that we brought from home. We were also very lucky to have a close encounter with some exotic animals such as the iguana and porcupine.

After the break, we carried on with our journey to the Boat Plaza. We took the Amazon River Quest boat ride and it was really fun! We saw colourful macaws, fierce looking jaguar and also a Giant anteater similar to the one that we read in our STELLAR Big Book “Crocodile Tea”.

Finally, we went to the Amazon Flooded Forest. There was an enormous aquarium and we saw many different kinds of fish. We also saw the manatee which looks as graceful as a mermaid.

Soon, it was time to go back to school. I wished I could stay longer but we must be in school before dismissal time. This was not the first time I went to the River Safari but I really liked being there with my classmates and teachers. My classmates and I really had a wonderful time at the River Safari. I also liked working with my partner on the activity sheets. We worked well together.  I am looking forward to the next learning journey.
