Sports Day 2015

Jul 08, 15 Sports Day 2015

“On your marks. Get set. Go!”

Those words are still ringing in my ear when I think about the Sports Day that happened on 28 May 2015. We started the day bright and early with all of us gathering at the school hall. The weather was perfect! The sun was out but the clouds covered it so it was a cooling morning. All of my friends could not wait for our Sports Day to begin!

The Primary 1s had their Sports Day first. My sister told me that they were ushered to the Indoor Sports Hall where they gathered and waited patiently to show off their skills and compete to become the champion for each game. Before each game, the PE teachers demonstrated on how to play the games so that they were all clear on what to do.

Hey! This is for children or for teachers!

Once they were ready in their lanes, they were set to go! The Primary 1s and 2s participated in relay games. They practised hard for several weeks prior to the Sports Day to perfect their skills such as balancing, throwing and improving on their timings. It was no easy feat but with encouragement from their friends, they were able to perform to their best!

The Primary 3s and Primary 4s Sports Day were a little different. Other than having Fun Games, we also participated in track events. Such track events were 50m Individual, 100m Individual, 4 x 50m Relay, 4 x 100m Relay and 8 x 50m Relay (mixed). Since we had the Sports Day in the ISH, our track events were modified but they still covered the distance! We had to jump over hurdles, weave in and out of cones and pass the batons. Phew! It was exhilarating!

The Fun Games were exciting too! The games tested on balance, agility, awareness, concentration and determination.

It was so heartwarming to see great sportsmanship being displayed by all Frontierers. Some classes even came in with banners and pom poms to cheer for their friends. They even came up with their own class cheer!

With every competition, there will be winners are losers. While we celebrate the winners, we also congratulate the others for a job well done! The most important thing is that we get to enjoy the day with our friends and perform to the best that we can. We hope that time will move faster so that we can have our Sports Day again. Till next year!
