My Children’s Day (CD) Fiesta 2015

Nov 12, 15 My Children’s Day (CD) Fiesta 2015

The theme for this year’s Children’s Day (CD) Fiesta 2015 is “COLOURS@Frontier” with the tagline “Chasing the Rainbow”. It is to reflect our pursuits to fulfill our own dreams.

There is something special about this year’s fiesta….the reason is that I got to run my own game booth during the carnival with my Co-Curriculum Activity (CCA) friends! We were all so excited about it as we had done lots of brainstorming and preparation work for our CCA game stall. On the day before the event, we were already setting up our game booth. We were so eager to ensure that our stall would be nicely decorated so that our schoolmates would come and patronise it.

When the actual day arrived, I went to school dressed in my favourite colour – blue to fit the theme of rainbow. I saw that my friends were all equally well-dressed too. For the first part of the day, we were in our own classroom where we were showered by gifts given by our teachers. I would really like to thank them for their effort in teaching us in all ways and spending time and effort to make Children’s Day special for us. After that, we proceeded to the hall where there was a message read out by Mr Koh and we got to sing ‘Semoga Bahagia’ by Zubir Said. I really like the song as it reminded us to have the right values in life such as being hardworking, charitable and respectful. There were also a few performances by the teachers. The song and dance item by the P4 teachers was really upbeat and energising. It was just so fun to watch them!

Soon, it was time for the P4 pupils to report to their CCA booths to get ready for some serious work. While the younger children were being entertained by a magician, we were busy ensuring that our game booths were all ready for business. We also understood that we had a special guest that day – our new education minister Mr Ng Chee Meng would be visiting us!

Finally, the carnival was announced to have started. Our little “brothers and sisters”, even those from the MOE Kindergarten were soon swarming into our stalls with their purchased coupons. It was so fun watching them play the games that we had set up from scratch. Many of them had wide smiles on their faces as they walked away with either stationery or candies. It made my day knowing that I had a part in giving them joy.

As my friends and I took turns to man the booth, I had a chance to use my coupons too. There were so many interesting games to play – “Let’s Fly” by the Chinese Dance where I had to fly my paper aeroplanes through hoola hoops; “Score” by the Red Cross where I used the hockey stick to manoeuvre the ping pong ball through tunnels and many others. I had the privilege to see Mr Ng at those game stalls too!

After the thrills I had at the game stalls, I could hear the sounds from my rumbling stomach. Without further ado, I headed to the canteen. Woh!!! There was so much yummy food to buy! There were chicken wings, hotdog buns, cheese fries and best of all – rainbow marshmallows, candy floss, popcorn and ice cream! That’s what I called a true carnival – with sweet treats! Truly befitting for Children’s Day!

There were really so much that I wish I had a chance to do…but there was simply not enough time and coupons to do everything…I saw that some of my friends had photos from the ‘F1 Car Racer’ booth run by the Parent-Partnership Committee (PPC). There were also others who had fun at the ‘Magic Keychain’ run by the Art Club.

I really enjoyed this year’s CD Fiesta. And I am so glad that I had a chance to run a game booth with my friends to raise funds for the needy. With that, I can’t wait for CD Fiesta 2016!
